Jason Oglesbee says it was “no big deal”....he didn’t volunteer - he was just the guy with the harness on when a Des Moines couple’s boat went over the dam, and the woman got trapped in the backwash. For 30 minutes rescuers tried ropes, life preservers and boats, while the construction crew rigged the crane, and finally swung Jason out over the water…..‘I just told her to hang on tight. I won’t let go,’

Lucky for that lady she didn’t get into trouble in Britain…..where a cautious ambulance man blocked paramedics from helping an injured jet-skier for 10 minutes, saying that they weren’t trained for water rescue and MUST wait for the fire brigade. Bystanders took the back board from the ambulance and put the man - who was lying (only six feet from the bank) with a broken back and ribs and punctured lungs, in SIX INCHES of water! - on it and carried him ashore. But, the man on the scene said that “Health and safety won’t let me get in”, and the spokesman for the ambulance company backed him up, later—saying “The incident was managed in accordance with procedures.” READ ALL ABOUT IT HERE. Do you think there was a union involved…...?
