In 1965, this is what Gail and I looked like, at the ALBION FIELD STATION during our freshman year:

A lot has changed since then…..but not everything!

I’ve always liked to buy well-made, good-quality things and keep them a long time—for instance, Gail and I have been married 40 years now, and we’ve had three cars. We drove the first one from 1970 to 1984, the second from 1984 to 1996, and the third from 1996 to the present. We’re using my grandmother’s KITCHEN-AID MIXER (circa 1950), as well as the electric fry-pan that I bought the summer before I went to PUC, etc. and etc.
Anyhow, the same goes for clothes….and the two jackets we are wearing in that photograph - each of them actually purchased a year or two before, while we were at RIO LINDO ACADEMY - were used for many years, first by us, then by our children. In fact, they are both still here in our house in Bend, OR. But, our local LES SCHWAB TIRE DEALER has been asking people to bring in their unused coats and jackets, which they will pass out to the homeless and otherwise needy people.
So, since we aren’t using them much anymore, we decided that it was time to pass them along. But, first another photograph was in order - so today, Laura snapped us in the same jackets:

Some of us have changed more than others, and everything you see is somewhat the worse for wear, but the jackets may be the most recognizable things in those photographs!

while fascinated by the 1965 photo, simply can’t comprehend that it really is her Papa and Grandmama…... ![]()
