THE OLD STORY IS THAT THE AUTO COMPANIES KILLED THE ELECTRIC TRAMS ALL OVER THE U.S…...
....and now, guess what? The electric automobile is being KILLED IN CALIFORNIA, and guess who the murderer is, this time?
Would you believe….? It’s the CALIFORNIA AIR RESOURCES BOARD. On the surface, this really seems bizarre, doesn’t it? I mean….electric cars will take gasoline-powered vehicles off the road…..and plug-in electrics can supplant the WORST-polluting type of driving that exists - the daily commute. So, what’s the deal?
Well…..it’s not just the eeeeeeevil gas-powered internal combustion engine that is threatened by electric cars. After all, some people think that ETHANOL FUELS are the way to go….and others are boosting HYDROGEN FUEL, along with other less currently important alternatives. Not only are these people “interested” in these alternatives, they may very well be INVESTED in them - they may have big financial stakes that will crash if the government begins to direct support toward the electric car, rather than to their favored (and financially rewarding, personally) alternative.
Would you be surprised to find that some of these folks are on the Board at CARB, helping to decide what kind of regulations should be applied…regulations that hamper the companies’ ability to operate? If so, you haven’t been paying attention, lately….even saintly Al Gore is invested in companies that have made him very rich, companies that (gasp) profit from the panic over Global Warming that Al is hyping. But, I digress…..
We don’t really know the whole story, yet…..but READ THE WHOLE THING, and ask yourself WHY the agency that is supposed to work at making California’s air cleaner would instead be so invested in making life difficult for the electric car industry…....
