SO YOU THINK HEALTHCARE IS A MESS IN THIS COUNTRY…...?

And that something like “Hillarycare”, where there is a “single payer” (the government) will improve matters?

Riiiiiiiiiiight!

Patients are being denied basic operations, including treatments for varicose veins, wisdom teeth and bad backs, as hospitals try frantically to balance the books by the end of the financial year, The Times can reveal….In one example of the cash-saving strategies, seen by The Times, a primary care trust in Yorkshire has told hospitals that they will not be paid for some non-essential operations, while patients will not be given a hospital appointment in under eight weeks….The cuts are widespread, although there are no central records to provide definitive figures.

Yikes!

But, you say…...that’s England! Good old Yankee ingenuity can make it work better! We have controls, we have efficiency, we have what it takes!

Unless you can somehow repeal normal human nature, anything free is going to be in huge demand…...does anyone doubt this? What if the government paid for your groceries…...what would happen to the consumption of steak? Of lobster? Of the better brands of beer? How many of us would NOT change our shopping habits if what we chose didn’t affect our pocketbook (directly)? Oh, stop lying to yourself!

The only way that healthcare costs will EVER be controlled is to put individuals in control of their expenditures, so that if they use less of the service, they get to keep some of the money they would otherwise have spent….the best plan currently offered that would do this is the HEALTH SAVINGS ACCOUNT that was set up as part of the medicare prescription drug bill the President signed into law in 2003.

If, on the other hand, we decide that the laws of economics and human nature can somehow be set aside….that WE are smart enough to accomplish what has never been done in recorded history (meaning that we can get something for nothing).....then you’d better get used to reading stories like THIS ONE in The Times: Operations cancelled as NHS runs out of money.
