The sad truth is that it is “educated” women who are having their choices more and more limited these days…...but not by men.
Despite all the hype about glass ceilings, and favoritism for males, and the rest of the nonsense being sold by the feminists in our country, the real problem is that young MEN aren’t taking education seriously, with nasty repercussions for society, and more personally, for young women who graduate from college and would like to find a nice young man with similar educational attainments.
Women now make up 57 per cent of university entrants, and they outnumber men in every subject — including maths and engineering. This thing is huge, and it is happening at every level, and no one seems to be thinking about the consequences.
Most trainee barristers and two thirds of medical students are now women — compared with 29 per cent women in the early 1990s. If current trends continue, most doctors will be female by 2012. It is ludicrous for the Equal Opportunities Commission to keep droning on about “glass ceilings” at the top of corporate Britain, or in the judiciary, when you think how fast this transformation has been.
This is from England, but the problem is growing rapidly in the U.S., as well….as anyone who can count will attest, if they’ll only stand around a college campus and practice their skill a bit.
Let’s put it bluntly: nice female middle-class graduates are either becoming permanent Bridget Joneses, or marrying nice male graduates, and they seem on the whole to be turning up their nice graduate noses at male non-graduates. And when the nice middle-class graduate couples get together, they have the double income to buy the houses and push the prices up — and make life even tougher for the non-graduates.
The result is that we have widening social divisions, and two particularly miserable groups: the female graduates who think men are all useless because they can’t find a graduate husband, and the male non-graduates who feel increasingly trampled on by the feminist revolution, and resentful of all these hoity-toity female graduates who won’t give them the time of day.
You think this isn’t going to be a difficult problem to solve? Au contraire, my friends…..because the solution runs head-on into the ideology of a powerful segment of our society, especially at the university level. Here’s how to fix the problem:
the only long-term solution for the “uselessness” of young men, as complained of by my twenty-something colleagues, is to get serious with the education of males in primary schools. And if the Equal Opportunities Commission wants to say something sensible for a change, it should start campaigning for more male teachers.
But, how likely is this to occur…..? My prediction? Not very…..because in order to admit that girls are succeeding at a much greater rate than boys, we would have to abandon the long-established “fact” that girls are discriminated against in many ways, and are truly an “at-risk” group. And if we abandoned THAT, then what would happen to those who blather on and on about “the patriarchy” and all the evils that it holds for women in our fair country? Can’t you see? The entire edifice undergirding “women’s studies” programs, offices of gender equity, etc. etc. would collapse. And then what would these people do for a living? What would happen to their conferences, their publications, their tenure?
No, no…..much better to sacrifice for the good of the sisterhood…..and besides, maybe something will come up and the patriarchy can be blamed for this, as well. READ THE WHOLE (SICKENING) THING
