OCTOBER BIRTHDAYS, 2010

Jana (19) and I (17) had our birthdays while visiting Mom in Kentucky this year. Any excuse (or none) is enough to get Aagaards out to eat, so we had a number of special meals in celebration. There was Italian in Morehead on the actual 17th, but Mom said it wasn’t good (and I didn’t take any photos) so here’s our Indian buffet meal in Lexington - we had SUCH a good time!

we headed for the table, and after getting seated, looked for the buffet….

There are two decks
.

the first with chutneys in the foreground and desserts/fruit, etc. at the far end. The mint chutney/sauce was fabulous!! The second deck was the meal - a nice selection of vegetable dishes with some chicken, both Tandoor and in sauces. Food is good not great, and the price is right. It was the company that was wonderful

Mom hates all photos of herself, but I always try to include one….she ate well, and we had fun.

This was all on the 18th….on Jana’s birthday Tuesday, we headed out for brunch. Bypassing the perfectly good spot next to the highway

we chose, instead, Root-a-Baker’s, in a precious little house with 85% female clientele - Vic and I were the only males in the tearoom during our tenure

When we got closer, we felt right at home…
.

I really do root for small businesses such as this….and wish that we encouraged them, rather than burden them with more and more regulations and mandates that make it hard for them to survive. Anyhow….here’s the sunroom, and sorry that I didn’t even remember the camera until we were all done with our meal. Very nice soup, sandwiches, salads and desserts - we had a wonderful time!
