It’s not fancy, but it’s a good place to be…..you’ve already seen the front:
.
.
and if you step inside the front door of #103, this is what you’re going to see…..
.
.
I don’t really think that a refrigerator in the living room is a Philippine standard - I’ve not seen it in any other home I’ve been in, so far. Along with the one you see over on the right toward the rear of the photo - the one that works - I also have ANOTHER big (useless) box that is supposed to refrigerate, but it hasn’t worked since before I came. I’m expecting that at some point, the same guys who brought the new one last week will come back and remove the old one.
You can see the dining room at the back, and the kitchen cupboards appear to the right of the back door, behind the fridge. Facing those is the door to the master bedroom, which we’ll see in a bit.
On the middle left is the TV - unused, despite the fact that they brought me a working model to replace the dead one that was here earlier - and my desk, with computer….where I DO spend quite a bit of time. Just this side of the desk is the “hall” to the bath- and bedrooms, where I’m currently staying…..
.
.
Just to the right of the camera in this shot is the computer on its desk….on our left is the door to the bathroom, straight ahead is bedroom #1(notice the beautiful wood floor!) , and to the right is bedroom #2, the one that I’m currently using. The bathroom is basic, but comfortable…..
.
.
The shower is delicious - lots of water and as hot as I want, which isn’t very hot…the air itself is plenty warm, and one doesn’t want to add a single BTU to one’s body…... My single complaint is the corner of the sink cabinet that you can see there—it should be cut at a 45-degree angle in order to avoid the potential for maiming anyone using this room!!
.
.
This room had two beds in it when I arrived, but the second one was removed almost immediately. The same is true of the second bedroom, where I’m currently staying… ...wonderful wood floor, one bed remaining, and lots of windows…..
.
.
and on the wall opposite the windows are a wonderful set of built-in cupboards….even now being munched by termites. It is the tropics, after all….. The window in the distance is the one beside the front door, and in the mirror you can actually see one of the dining table chairs…..
.
.
Here’s the master bedroom—looking forlorn after Tim left. It has an entire wall of wonderful built-in cupboards - the situation with the termites makes me sad. I’m thinking about moving over here after the weekend in Malaysia. We’ll see.
.
.
The master bathroom situation is nice, with the sink in the bedroom itself, and the toilet and shower contained inside the door. At the right, you can see the dining room and across to the kitchen.
.
.
And here it is—our table, plus the kitchen where we do very little cooking. Ramen and other instant noodles, breakfast cereal (me) and fake hot dogs (Tim), plus lots of fruit.
.
.
You can see both refrigerators - the dead one right there by the door to the garage. The stove runs on propane, which is out, so only the single electric burner works. We have two microwaves and two toaster ovens, for reasons that are obscure to me, as they all seem to work!! Ah well. The big blue container is filled with purified water, although Tim drank the tap water without a problem. As the water is turned off periodically to repair pipes, I’ve been drinking the “bottled” water.
Finally, here’s the view out the back door - down this path I go every morning, turn left for a ways, then cross the big grassy area to the Seminary where I meet my class at 7:45 a.m.
.
.
If you get the chance, COME to AIIAS….I’m having a wonderful time.
