LATEST BEND GARDEN HARVEST

Sophia and I were home alone the other day, and wandered out into the backyard to check on the garden….the first thing we noticed was a giant zucchini….

back in the rear of the cold frame.  But that wasn’t all!!

Up in the front, there were more strawberries coming….

These are numbers 3-6, in case you haven’t been keeping score at home!  grin  And you will note that they are already showing a little color…..Yum.

Speaking of color, look at my tomatoes…..

There are a LOT of tomatoes on this plant, and I took time to prune off all the flowers so that all the “juice” can go into getting what’s already here ready, rather than setting new fruit.  I’m encouraged that the next 10 days forecast is for daytimes in the 70s and overnight lows in the middle 40s, and lots of sunshine…..I have hopes that a few cherry tomatoes will get red, anyhow.
.

We had two “harvests”.....

and while this is less than exciting for many folks, Sophia has no standard of comparison, and she is THRILLED with whatever we produce.  It’s a bit like going back to Disneyland with a small child - you see everything through new (and un-jaded) eyes.  It’s been very good for me.
