DO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE HAVE A CLUE AS TO WHAT AL QAEDA IS REALLY LIKE?

Probably not.  The major media in our country isn’t much interested in telling us the nature of our enemies—they’re too interested in drivel out of Hollywood, or the latest horror story about Dick Cheney, or the i-Phone debut, or scaring the bejabbers out of us because the President is about to institute a theocracy.

However, there is a lot that we ought to be aware of:

If Americans (perhaps you?) will turn off their TV sets and start getting their news from sources who are actually THERE, on the spot where things are happening in real time, we might actually find the spine to support our young men and women who are fighting for each of us….by assisting the Iraqis as they build a decent state.  That we are simultaneously tying up many of those who hate us and are trying their best to destroy our civilization and institute their own form of tyranny on the world, is just a bonus.

MICHAEL YON is an independent reporter who is supported by his readers and embeds with combat units in Iraq.  He recently went with an American captain and a group of Iraqi soldiers, into a

village (that) had the apparent misfortune of being located near a main road—about 3.5 miles from FOB Warhorse—that al Qaeda liked to bomb. Al Qaeda had taken over the village….The village was abandoned. All the people were gone. But where?

They soon found out.  Men, women and children murdered in gruesome fashion and buried in shallow graves.  Outrages of this sort are turning the Iraqis, both Sunni and Shia, into supporters of the coalition (mostly American) soldiers who are there to assist them take control of their own country.  It’s not easy looking at the photographs, but the smell isn’t coming through the computer screen, and besides—you can blip past the pictures and just read the text.

Don’t join the millions of American couch potatoes, who are suckers for every piece of spin spewed out by their TVs, because they’re so ignorant of what’s really happening.  Take time to READ THE WHOLE THING
