The first (RIP) is the real hero of the liberation of Iraq from Al Qaeda terrorism. And the second is the man who tried for years to get the military leadership to change course, but failed.
Former Marine and writer Bing West has spent a total of 20 months with American forces in Iraq.
West tells David Martin that military strategy is finally turning Iraq around because leaders are listening to U.S. troops.
Iraq doesn’t seem to be going all that well, after all. Given a choice, and protected from reprisals, most Iraqis appear to choose something a lot less militant than what the Taliban or Iran has on offer.
IMRAN RAZA Pakistani-American film-maker, went to a madrassah in Pakistan and saw how an Atlanta (Georgia) taxi-driver’s kids were being turned into the kind of “secret weapons” that bombed the London Subways in 2005.
He thinks we need to wake up to the danger, and he’s made a film to show us what we’re facing…...

Sergeant Jonas Jerome Allen is a hero…..he was manning a Humvee’s turret-mounted heavy machine gun when the gunner in the next Humvee experienced a breakdown of his MK-19 Grenade launcher.

If you even imagine that what’s “playing” in the major media in this country comes close to the real story, then ask yourself how come neither you (nor I) have heard about the following, until today.
Wouldn’t this make GREAT television? And don’t you agree that this story would add something unique to the usual stew of war reporting?
Get your hankie….or some tissue…..and check it out.
It’s not just Mike, whose life as he knew it is now over because he was willing to go overseas to protect those of us who remain at home…..what about Megan?
Megan pulled a three-ring binder out of her bag and showed me a photograph of herself and her husband. Young — they’re both 21 — with big smiles on their faces, and obviously wildly in love. “That’s what he looked like,” she said with a somber face, “He was such a cutie-pie, always buying me little stuffed animals and writing the most thoughtful notes the entire time he was in Iraq.” Then she showed me the photo of her husband receiving the Purple Heart on Wednesday from President Bush at Bethesda Naval Medical Center. As President Bush pinned the medal on Mike as he lay unconscious in the ICU, having suffered a traumatic brain injury caused by a piece of shrapnel that pierced his right eye.
How should we live to warrant THIS KIND OF SACRIFICE? It’s good to think about such things at Christmas…...when we celebrate the birth of Someone who also gave everything to keep us free.
Sophia Isabella Leslie Camacho is 10 months old…...maybe that’s why the following brought tears so quickly to my eyes.
