....and since making a Public Service Announcement on the importance of gun safety is commonly part of the restitution ordered by the court, someone has imagined what Plaxico’s would be like.
(For those not in the know….PLAXICO BURRESS plays football for the New York Giants, and was RECENTLY IN THE NEWS when he carried an unregistered gun into a NY nightclub and accidentally shot himself in the leg.)

Well, OK…...the “fuel” isn’t air, of course. The power source is an engine that uses compressed air to drive the pistons…..but the energy to compress the air is produced by some more conventional power source. Central generation of electricity is more efficient than burning hydrocarbons in individual cars, they tell us - so these cars qualify as “green”, even when they come in other colors…...

Nègre and company assert the AirPod can hit 43 mph, by way of MDI’s 5.45 hp compressed-air motor with traditional pistons like an internal combustion engine. At 15-20 miles per hour, they say, the AirPod has a range of 130+ miles per tankful. Sporting a body of plastic composite, the AirPod is just 82 inches long, 63 inches wide and 79 inches high, and expected to come in passenger and cargo versions, each weighing under 500 pounds.

This particular one is a replacement for the golf cart in many applications, it seems to me. But larger and more powerful ones are promised. Many questions remain…..
But, they’re about to begin selling an electric car…...

READ ALL ABOUT IT
If you haven’t ever read the blog over at IOWAHAWK, then you have a treat in store…..he writes a LOT of incredibly inventive political satire. In addition, some of his posting is family-oriented, and he’s a major fan of vintage autos and hot-rods…......
On my birthday, October 17, Iowahawk posted an entry (non-satirical) he called I AM JOE, dealing with what happened to “Joe the Plumber”, the guy who asked the question that elicited Obama’s statement that he wanted to tax Joe more, if he were to buy the business as he planned, in order to “spread the wealth around”..... It ended up:
.
Are you a Joe? Say it proud. Leave it on every goddamn newspaper comment section and online forum. Let these pressroom and online thugs know you won’t stay silent when they try to destroy the life of a private citizen for speaking his mind—because for every one of them, there are a million Joe Wurzelbachers. And for that we should all be thankful.
Steve and Rachel Larman say a strange credit card charge appeared on their statement this month—a $2300 donation to Barack Obama’s presidential campaign. The Larman’s say they don’t want this to be about their political affiliation, but they say they’re not about to give the Obama campaign any help from their pocketbook.
This was posted elsewhere to make a political point, but I don’t want to use it for that….just for pure nostalgia.
First, this game is “The Big Game” for UC Berkeley (Cal) and Stanford University. It goes back a LONG ways…...and even when both teams stink, it’s really important to the two schools.
Second, it was a very tight game, in which Stanford was favored, and with only a few seconds left, Stanford led by a point. Remember that the game doesn’t end until the last play that gets underway is over, so all Stanford has to do it tackle the runner and they are the winners. “Many the slip twixt the cup and the lip” as someone once said…...
Third, listen carefully to Joe Starkey, the guy broadcasting the game for KNBR, the station carrying Cal football…...I’ll say something more about him after the video clip…...
THIS KIND OF THING is what made SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE an icon (here’s WIKIPEDIA’S TAKE)......

Of course, it’s a sign of the times we live in that SNL put this sketch on its website, but then removed it after 24 hours or so…..and then put it back after an outcry arose. Early on, they simply offended all and sundry, with no particular worries about whose political feelings might be hurt.
.
.
UPDATE: It now appears that courage over hurt feelings is extended to SOME, although not to others….interesting to chart who falls into which group. Private individuals probably shouldn’t be called out by name, but what EXPLAINS THIS. Normally, when doing political satire you expect to lampoon, you know…..politicians!
