TOMORROW IS A SPECIAL DAY—THE BIRTHDAY OF THE UNITED STATES MARINES

Take a moment to be grateful for the men (and now, women) who train to fight, and die if necessary, to protect your freedom.

WHAT DOES A HERO LOOK LIKE…....?

Try this:

Jason Oglesbee says it was “no big deal”....he didn’t volunteer - he was just the guy with the harness on when a Des Moines couple’s boat went over the dam, and the woman got trapped in the backwash.  For 30 minutes rescuers tried ropes, life preservers and boats, while the construction crew rigged the crane, and finally swung Jason out over the water…..‘I just told her to hang on tight. I won’t let go,’

You can READ ALL ABOUT IT HERE, and watch a (pretty jerky) video, as well…...

OUR HERO FOR TODAY…..THERE ARE STILL SOME VERTEBRATES LIVING IN CANADA!!

One of the aggravating things about government is the bureaucratic maze we all have to navigate to get the mundane things of life done.  A new driver’s license, a passport, a business license, etc.

PIERRE LEMIEUX is a Canadian with a gun permit, and he has found that his government takes the aggravation to a whole new level.  In order to renew his permit back in 2007, they required him to fill out a more or less lengthy questionnaire…..like a good citizen, he took a deep breath and began checking little boxes, and filling in blanks, until…......well, until they started asking him questions about his love life!  Was he divorced?  Had he broken up with his girlfriend?

NEVER JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER…...

Does anyone remember PAUL POTTS?

Well…...have a listen to SUSAN BOYLE........imagine this dear little (funny-looking) lady screwing up the courage to face Simon Cowell and the entire Britain’s Got Talent audience!!

Look at all the faces - you know what they’re thinking!  This tape brings tears to my eyes—I hope she WINS!

WHAT DOES A TRILLION DOLLARS LOOK LIKE?

I don’t think ANY of us really know what a trillion means…..despite the fact that the number is being thrown around with abandon, these days.  I remember when a $400,000,000,000.00 (four hundred billion dollars) was an UNCONSIONABLE deficit…..but that was a long time ago - back when a Republican was in the White House.  Now, the government can commit to spending well over one trillion dollars it doesn’t have (meaning it will borrow or print the money), and (almost) everyone is cheering.

Anyhow, thanks to Jonah Goldberg at THE CORNER, I’ve been to a website where one can see in a very graphic fashion the full reality of $1,000,000,000,000.00 (one trillion dollars).  Get ready, because it’s a little bit shocking.  OK…..(I’m not making this up).....(don’t say I didn’t warn you)........HERE IT IS.
