LARGEST IMMIGRATION RAID IN IOWA HISTORY PAYS BIG DIVIDENDS…...

Acting on reports of illegal activity, federal officials raided a large kosher meat-packing plant in Iowa, recently….
.

Postville, Ia. - The largest workplace raid in Iowa history Monday resulted in the arrest of more than 300 people and reignited the debate over immigration.

As two law enforcement helicopters hovered overhead, dozens of federal agents descended on Agriprocessors Inc., the nation’s largest kosher slaughterhouse.

The 300 people arrested represent almost one-third of the plant’s 968 workers, and federal officials said the number of arrests could increase. The number is three times as many as were arrested in a raid 18 months ago at the Swift plant in Marshalltown.

Months in planning, Monday’s raid involved 16 local, state and federal agencies, led by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). They executed search warrants related to criminal activity, as well as a civil search warrant for people believed to be in the United States illegally.

MAYBE YOU HEARD ABOUT THE DERANGED RACIST AT A PALIN RALLY WHO SHOUTED “KILL HIM”.....?

Didn’t happen…...not only did the alleged shout (reported by a SINGLE source) come when Palin was talking about Ayers, not Obama, but the Secret Service now reports that there is NO EVIDENCE that any such thing took place, at all…...
.

The agent in charge of the Secret Service field office in Scranton said allegations that someone yelled “kill him” when presidential hopeful Barack Obama’s name was mentioned during Tuesday’s Sarah Palin rally are unfounded….Agent Bill Slavoski said he was in the audience, along with an undisclosed number of additional secret service agents and other law enforcement officers and not one heard the comment.

“I was baffled,” he said after reading the report in Wednesday’s Times-Tribune.

He said the agency conducted an investigation Wednesday, after seeing the story, and could not find one person to corroborate the allegation other than Singleton.

Slavoski said more than 20 non-security agents were interviewed Wednesday, from news media to ordinary citizens in attendance at the rally for the Republican vice presidential candidate held at the Riverfront Sports Complex. He said Singleton (a Scranton Times-Tribune reporter) was the only one to say he heard someone yell “kill him.”

Hmmmmm…..you don’t think…...Nah!

IT AIN’T OVER ‘TIL IT’S OVER…...

This was posted elsewhere to make a political point, but I don’t want to use it for that….just for pure nostalgia.

First, this game is “The Big Game” for UC Berkeley (Cal) and Stanford University.  It goes back a LONG ways…...and even when both teams stink, it’s really important to the two schools.

Second, it was a very tight game, in which Stanford was favored, and with only a few seconds left, Stanford led by a point.  Remember that the game doesn’t end until the last play that gets underway is over, so all Stanford has to do it tackle the runner and they are the winners.  “Many the slip twixt the cup and the lip” as someone once said…...

Third, listen carefully to Joe Starkey, the guy broadcasting the game for KNBR, the station carrying Cal football…...I’ll say something more about him after the video clip…...

BARACK OBAMA IS CONCERNED ABOUT ACORN…..

Although apparently not in the same way I am…..he doesn’t mention, for instance, the fraudulent voter registrations being perpetrated by ACORN in several states…..

But, see for yourself…..

PORTABLE NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS…..?

Is that a dream…..or a nightmare?

I’m thinking the former…...

The Hyperion Power Generation uranium hydride reactor will weigh fifteen to 20 tons…designed to fit on the back of a flatbed truck because most of our customers are not going to have rail….It will generate 27-30 Megawatts of electrical power from 70 MW of thermal power….Here is a comparison to help put the system’s potential into perspective. A single truck can deliver the HPM heat source to a site. The device is supposed to be able to produce 70 MW of thermal energy for 5 years. That means that the truck will be delivering about 10.5 trillion BTU’s to the site. Natural gas costs about $7 per million BTU which would would cost $73 million….about 3 times as much as the announced selling price for an HPM…(but), it would be better to compare the HPM to diesel fuel, which currently costs about 2 times as much per unit of useful heat as natural gas and still requires some form of delivery for remote locations. In some places, fuel transportation costs are two or three times as much as the cost of the fuel from the central supply points.

Wouldn’t THIS be incredible?  READ THE WHOLE THING
